  • Notes
    • Martha Jane Huskey Ogle was part Indian.

After the death of William, Martha took her five sons and two daughters for a short visit with relatives in Virginia. Her brother, Peter Huskey, and his family then accompanied them on their long trip to the East Tennessee area to establish their home.

They were in the Sevier County, Tennessee as early as 1805. There is a record in Tennessee State Library and Archives that shows Hercules and Thomas Ogle sold land to William Murphy in 1807. This land was situated in the area of "mouth of Walden's Creek" in Sevier County, Tennessee.

On 19 January 1811, Martha Ogle, "relict of William Ogle" and her sons relinquished to James Atchison of Edgefield County, South Carolina their claim on the property that William Ogle had bought from George Hagood in 1796. This deed of conveyance was recorded in Deed Book 31, p 291/92 in Edgefield County, South Carolina.

According to the church minutes of "Fork of Little Pigeon Church", Martha Ogle was the one of the group of people from White Oak Flats Community that asked the Fork of Little Pigeon Church to establish a church in White Oak Flats as an arm of the church in Sevierville in December 1817.

Sometime between December 1817 to July 1826, Martha Ogle died and was buried in Gatlinburg, Tennessee behind Hays House Restaurant.

Some researchers claim her given name should not include Jane.

  • Notes
    • From "Rowan County, North Carolina Court Minutes 1773-1786", William Ogle, with his brothers Thomas and Hercules Ogle, is listed in "Names of Persons who have not taken the Oath of Allegiance in Captain Cox's District." The date of the entry is 1778. Family traditions say that he served in the Revolutionary War.

William Ogle and his brothers, Thomas Jr. ad Hercules Ogle, were listed in Captain Cox's District, 1778 Tax List of Rowan County, North Carolina.

Some records say William Ogle was an Indian trader, other say that he was a minister of the gospel. In the deeds from Rowan County, North Carolina, he described himself as a planter or yeoman.

In 1785 William and his family were living in Wilkes County, Georgia, according to "1785 Tax List of Wilkes County, Georgia". They settled in Edgefield District, South Carolina, prior to 1790. He was listed as the head of household in 1790 and 1800 Federal Census of Edgefield District, South
      Carolina.

On 19 Oct 1795, Thomas Ogle of Grayson County, Virginia deeded 100 acres of land in Rowan County, North Carolina, to "William Ogle of Edgefield County, state of South Carolina". William later sold this same tract of land to Mark Cole and Jacob Skeene on 30 Oct 1795 (Deed Book 14, p 178 and p 179/80).

On 7 March 1796, William Ogle added to his holdings in Edgefield District, South Carolina, another 100 acres of land purchased from George Hagood. This land was situated on "the branches of Rockey Creek, waters of Savannah River" (Deed Book 13, p 198).

Family traditions say William Ogle had planned to migrate to Tennessee. But at that time, there was an epidemic of a most dreaded disease in the backcountry of South Carolina. It is believed that before William Ogle could make arrangements to dispose of his land, he contracted this disease and died.

Other sources say he built the first known structure in the Gatlinburg, Sevier County, Tennessee area. They say he hunted with Indian friends in the area and decided to build a cabin and move his family there. He cut and hewed the logs, and then returned home "to grow a crop" in order to bring supplies for his family's survival for some time. While there, an epidemic of malaria broke out and William died of the fever.

Between the date of his will, 26 Feb 1803, and the date of probate, 5 March 1803, William Ogle died and was survived by his wife, Martha and his children, five sons and two daughters. He is buried in the Fruit Hill area.

In his will William said, "I give unto my son Harculous Ogle that Hundred Acres of Land he Now lives. Also the remainder of the Land is to be Divided among four Boys except a Child's Share which I give unto My beloved Wife Polly Ogle (Martha in the 1811 deed). Also I give unto my beloved daughter Rebecca (Mc) Carter a cow and Calf, bed and furniture, Pot and Some other furniture. Also I
give unto my beloved grandson William (Mc) Carter a young sow. Also the rest of the property to be Equally among all the rest of my children except my beloved Wife which draws a Child's share." His will was recorded in Edgefield County, South Carolina, Will Book "A", box 22, #783.

  • Rebecca Ogle
    McCarter-Whaley
    1782-1870/80
    Wife of Middleton Whaley

  • Notes
    • According to the 1850 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tenn., Rebecca listed North Carolina as her birthplace.

Rebecca was already married to James McCarter by 1803 as indicated by the will of her father, William Ogle. Rebecca was willed "a cow and calf, bed and furniture, pot and some other furniture. Also I give unto my beloved grandson William McCarter a young sow."

Rebecca and James McCarter came from Edgefield District, South Carolina to settle the Cartertown section and owned most of it at one time. They did not take part in the settlement of White Oak Flats.

Rebecca and her second husband Middleton are listed in Sevier County Census 1830 to 1860.

Rebeccaa and Midleton were charter members of White Oak Flats Baptist Church.

  • Notes
    • Family traditions say Middleton Whaley, his two brothers, William M. and John, and a sister, Delania, came to Sevier County, Tennessee from South Carolina.

Record of Middleton Whaley's military service in the War of 1812 was found in the National Archives, Washington, D.C. Middleton Whaley served as substitute for William Boman, 1 October 1814 to 31 December 1814, in Captain Andrew Lawson's Company in 3rd Regiment of Tennessee Militia, commanded by Colonel William Johnson. Later in the same company, he enlisted as a private on 20
September 1814 at Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee and was discharged on 3 May 1815. No bounty land grants or pension records were found in the National Archives.

In December 1817 when the White Oak Flats Baptist Church was formed as an arm of the Sevierville church, Middleton Whaley was listed as a charter member.

Middleton and Rebecca are listed in Sevier County Census 1830 to 1870. In the 1840 census is listed 1 male 20-30, 1 male 40-50, 2 females 20-30, 1 female 50-60.

Notes
  • Peter Huskey lived in the vicinity of Back Creek in Frederick County during the
early 1750's thru mid-1750's. During that time, he was the chain carrier for
    four different land surveys there.

Sometime during the mid-1750's, Peter Huskey and his family moved to Rowan
County, North Carolina. They settled in the area where southern Guilford County
and northern Randolph County are now located.

He was found along with his son John Huskey on the "William Millikan's List of
Taxables" for Rowan County, North Carolina in 1768.

Family tradition says his first wife was killed by Indians. No information has
    been found to verify this.

Peter Huskey Sr., was found on the 1778 tax list for Captain Cox's District in
Rowan County, North Carolina. His land was valued at 142 pounds. His son
Peter Huskey Jr. was listed on the same tax list, and his land was valued at
    202 pounds.

On Saturday, 8 August 1778, Peter Huskey was listed as a "nonjuror" in Captain
Cox's District of Rowan County, North Carolina. He refused to take the "Oath
of Affirmation and Allegiance" to the State of North Carolina.

In 1785 Peter Huskey and his family were living in Wilkes County, Georgia near
his brother-in-law, William Ogle and his family according to "1785 Tax List of
Wilkes County, Georgia." Six District, Edgefield County, South Carolina prior
to 1790. Peter Huskey is listed as the head of household in 1790 and 1800
Federal Census of Edgefield County, South Carolina.

On 28 Oct 1797 Peter Huskey and his son Jonathan Huskey of Edgefield District,
South Carolina bought 200 acres of land from William McCarter of Abbeville
District, South Carolina. This land was originally patented to William
McCarter on 6 Nov 1786 from the state of South Carolina. It was situated in
the "District of Ninety Six and County of Edgefield on a creek called Rockey
Creek waters of Stephens Creek." (Deed Book 22, p 265/66)

On 6 July 1801 Peter Huskey bought 24.5 acres of land from the state of South
Carolina. It was situated in "District of Edgefield on a small branch of
Rockey Creek, waters of Stephen Creek and Savannah River." (South Carolina
    State Archives, Columbia, S. C. - State Plats Vol. 38 (2nd), p 359)

On 30 Sep 1801 Peter Huskey bought 289 acres of land from William Brafford of
Barnwell District, South Carolina. This land was on "Rockey Creek waters of
Stephens Creek" in Edgefield District, South Carolina." (Deed Book 22,
    p 275/77)

It is believed that Peter Huskey sold his lands before leaving for Sevier
County, Tennessee in 1804. In 1805 Peter Huskey brought his married children
(Isaac, Jonathan, John, Sarah, and two other daughters) with the Ogle clan from
Edgefield District, South Carolina to settle in the Walden's Creek area of
    Sevier County, Tennessee.

In 1805 Peter Huskey entered 57 acres of land in the Emert's Cove area of
Sevier County, Tennessee and held it for a short time. From Tennessee State
Library & Archives, Nashville, Tennessee, there is a land grant (No. 1815) for
Frederick Emert, assignee of Peter Huskey. By this grant, Peter Huskey sold
the 57 acres of land in the Emert's Cove area to Frederick Emert prior to the
issuance of the land grant from the state of Tennessee in 1806.

Prior to the War of 1812, Peter Huskey went with some of his married children
to Union County, Illinois and then to Jefferson County, Missouri.

Family tradition says Peter Huskey came back from the West (Union County,
Illinois or Jefferson County, Missouri) and died in the White Oak Flats
community. He probably died before 1830. He is not listed in the 1830 Federal
Census of Tennessee, Illinois, or Missouri. No data on his burial place has
    been found.

    Jan. 29, 1772
    July 1846

  • Notes
    • Isaac Huskey went with his parents to Wilkes County, Georgia and later to Ninety Six District, Edgefield County, South Carolina.

Isaac Huskey and his wife Jane Miller are listed in the 1790 Federal Census of Edgefield County, South Carolina.

On 5 Dec 1796 Isaac Huskey bought 257 acres of land from the state of South Carolina. It was located in the "District of Ninety Six in Edgefield County on the waters of Steven's Creek, waters of Savannah River." It joined the lands of Obediah Henerson, William Anderson, William Rowens and ________ Mundays.

On 27 July 1798 Isaac Huskey bought 100 acres of land from Moses Brafford of Edgefield District, South Carolina. This land was situated on "Rockey Creek, waters of Savannah River" and joined the lands of Jonathan Huskey, Joseph Able, and Wyatt Morris.

On 6 Dec 1798 Isaac Huskey sold 140 acres of the original 257 acres of land, which he received from the state of South Carolina in 1796, to James Smith of Edgefield District, South Carolina.

On 15 Nov 1800 Isaac Huskey sold 50 acres of land to Wyatt Morris. This land joined the lands of Peter Huskey, Wyatt Morris, and Jonathan Huskey.

No record of the remaining 167 acres has been found, but it is believed that Isaac Huskey sold this land before leaving in 1804. In 1804 he came with the Huskey and the Ogle clans from Edgefield District, South Carolina To settle in the Walden's Creek and Wear's Valley area of Sevier County, Tennessee.

There are numerous land grants for Isaac Huskey in Tennessee State Library and Archives, Nashville, Tennessee.

One early grant was surveyed 24 July 1806 and granted 12 June 1810:
"...a certain tract or parcel of land containing Twenty five acres and two
Roods lying in the County of Sevier in the District South of French Broad
and Holsont on the water of the west fork of Little Pigeon River there being
due and chargeable on said land the sum of Twenty five Dollars and fifty
Cents with the Interest due thereon."

It joined vacant land and Richard McBryant's land in the Wear's Valley of Sevier County, Tennessee.

Isaac Huskey made seven land entries dated from 1 May 1824 through 3 Apr 1835 in the Surveyor's Book N. 1 of Sevier County, Tennessee (Register of Deeds Office). These land entries by Isaac Huskey were located in the area where the Twins Creek picnic area is now, and a part of the Cherokee Orchard and the Sugarlands (all now a part of Great Smoky Mountains National Park). This was the homeplace where Isaac and his wife Jane Miller lived until their death.

In 1813 Isaac Huskey and his eldest son, James Huskey, signed a petition to the General Assemby of Tennessee from the French Broad and Holston Country. (The original petition is in Tennessee State Library and Archives, Nashville, TN.)

Isaac Huskey and his wife, Jane Miller, appeared in the 1830 and 1840 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee.

From the GUARDIANS, EXECUTORS & ADMINISTRATORS Settlement Book for Sevier County, Tennessee, there is a record of settlement of the estate of Isaac Huskey. Evidently William Huskey was appointed as administrator by County Court in late 1840's. He continued to handle the affairs of his father's estate until 28 Feb 1860, last recorded entry before William Huskey's death in 1861. From the aforesaid book, there is a list of the heirs of Isaac Huskey who had not received their shares from the estate. They are listed in this order: "Peter Huskey's Share, James Huskey's Share, Isaac Huskey's Share, Joshua Reagan's Share, and Silas Huskey's Share." They were living out west (Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas) at that time.

  • Sophia is spoken of as the "red-headed woman" in the family stories. It is said she hoped and prayed for a church and minister of their own in the community. Her hopes were realized when their son, William T. Ogle, became a minister of the Gospel, as did a younger son, Caleb Ogle.

  • Thomas went with his parents to Ninety Six District, Edgefield County, South Carolina from Wilkes County, Georgia.

Tom was named with his brother, Hercules, as coexecutor of their father's will in 1803 in Edgefield District, South Carolina. He also signed the 1811 deed of conveyance which disposed of the land left by William Ogle to his "four boys". Another deed, dated in 1825 and disposing of land in Edgefield District, South Carolina, was signed by Thomas and Sophia Ogle. They had apparently rented out this land after moving to Sevier County, Tennessee.

No Tennessee land grants prior to 1824 were found for Tom Ogle but it is known that he was in Sevier County as early as 1805. He and Hercules Ogle deeded 48 acres of land at the mouth of Walden's Creek to William Murphy in 1807. According to the deed, found in the Tennessee State Library and Archives, they held title to the land "by virtue of seizure and occupancy". The exact date of Tom's settlement in Gatlinburg is not known but he was one of the first settlers there.

Records of Tom's service in the War of 1812 were found in the National Archives. He served in Captain Andrew Lawson's Company of East Tennessee Drafted Militia Regiment, commanded by Colonel William Johnson, and fought against the Creek Indians. In 1850 and 1855, Tom received bounty land grants as a result of his service.

In December of 1817 when the White Oak Flats Baptist Church was formed as an arm of the Sevierville church, Tom Ogle and his wife were listed as charter members. The first church building was started in 1855 on Tom's land. It was located where the Arrowcraft Shop stands now. A deed conveying title of the land to the church by Thomas Ogle was executed on 8 April 1861. This is found in Sevier County Courthouse in Deed Book M, page 211.

Thomas J. Ogle has three land entries, which are dated from 1 May 1824 through 23 Jan 1826, in the Surveyor's Book No. 1 of Sevier County, Tennessee. These land entries were granted by the state of Tennessee. All these were located in the White Oak Flats community and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Tom left a will dated 27 Sep 1861 and probated in County Court in February of 1862. It is recorded in Will Book I, p 74-75. William T. Ogle is mentioned as Tom's eldest son and is named executor of the will. Also Tom mentioned "my son Thomas Ogle... my Sons, to wit., Preston, Levi and Caleb..." In the Court records, Thomas Ogle's will was admitted for probate 3 Feb 1862. On 3 March 1862, Caleb Ogle and Wilson Duggan were appointed administrators of the estate of Thomas Ogle. (Court Minutes Book I, page 747 and 752)

There is a list of "Inventory of the property belonging to the estate of Thomas J. Ogle, Dec'd., late of Sevier County, Tennessee in the Inventory Book, page 190/92.

In the GUARDIANS, EXECUTORS and ADMINISTRATORS Settlement Book for Sevier County, Tennessee, there is a record for the estate of Thomas J. Ogle. From this book, the following list of the living heirs of Thomas J. Ogle is quoted: "the above Settlement shows that there is in the hands of the administrators the sum of $187.23 to be equally divided among twelve heirs, to wit., Levi, Hercules, Isaac, Rebecca wife of Preston, William T., Celeb, Thomas, Esther Trantham, Hichols Ownsby, Jacob Evans, Andrew Conner, and David Owensby & wife."

The family appears in the Federal Census records of Sevier County from 1830 through 1860. The census and other records found show that the second generation of Ogle sons in Gatlinburg began using their father's initial in their names when there was confusion created by the same names.

Notes
  • Following the path of migration to the West in Virginia, John Ownby came with his parents, sometime before 1760, to Albermarle County, Virginia (later Amherst County).

There are records of several land transactions for John Ownby in Amherst County, Virginia:
    (1) On 27 April 1764, John Ownby bought from Charles Parkes, 359 acres, lying on the north branches of the Buffalo River and the north side of Fluvanna. This land ran with the lines of Ambrose Porter.
    (2) On 5 September 1768, John Ownby sold to Martin Trap, 111 acres, lying on north branches of Buffalo River.
    (3) On 5 February 1769, John Ownby sold to David Blitz for nine pounds, twelve shillings, 70 acres, situated on the branches of Buffalo River, being a part of a large tract belonging to the said John Ownby. Also John Ownby's wife relinquished her dower rights at that time.
    (4) On 25 February 1769, John Ownby sold to William Mays, 178 acres, situated on the branches of Buffalo River starting with James Williamson's corner and running with the lines of David Blitz, being a part of a large tract belonging to the said John Ownby.

In the early 1770's, John Ownby and his family migrated to Pittsylvania County, Virginia where Ambrose Porter died leaving a will in 1773. In Ambrose Porter's will, he mentioned his daughter Ann and her five youngest children, namely, John, Milly, Susanna, Ambrose, and Arthur. Each of Ann's five youngest children was willed "one cow of heifer each to be delivered to them as they come to the age of nine or then years old."

In the late 1770's, John Ownby and his family moved again to Tryon County, North Carolina (later Rutherford County). Here he began to buy lands and remained until his death. They lived in the area of Colonel Hampton's Mill near Cove Road in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

They were listed in the 1790 through 1820 Federal Census of Ruterford County, North Carolina.

John Ownby was buried in the "Old Field Cemetery" which is located five miles north of Bat Cave just off North Carolina Highway #9.

    • James was seventeen years old when he entered the Revolutionary War. He fought
in the Battle at King's Mountain on 1 November 1778 as a Private in Captain
George Taylor's company. He carried water in his hat. He served until 1783.

James lived in Tryon County, North Carolina until he removed to Buncombe county
in 1824. He resided in McDowell county in 1845, but lived most of his life in
Rutherford County, North Carolina. He owned the farm on Bald Mountain. The
original cabin has about fallen down, but a part is still standing, according
to Mrs. Carrie Lee Nanney. She claims that James is buried there in the "Old
      Field's Cemetery".

D.A.R states he is buried in Koone family cemetery Route 1, Union Mills, North
Carolina. Moved with parents to Tryon County (now Rutherford), North Carolina
while still a boy and lived on Green River. Moved with wife about 1824 to
Buncombe County and was in McDowell County in 1845. Moved back to Rutherford
      County with wife in 1846.

Entered the service of his county at age 17. Fought at age 19 as a substitute
in Battle of Kings Mountains in Colonel John Sevier's Regiment of "Overmountain
      Men".

      1. Entered service first part of November 1778 as a substitute for Henry Kelly,
in Captain George Taylor's Company in Colonel Hugh Brevard's North Carolina
Regiment in Brigade of General Griffith Rutherford. Discharged 10 April 1779.

      2. Entered as draftee October 1779 in Captain Robert Gilkeys' command in
Colonel Andrew Hampton's North Carolina Regiment. Discharged 24 March 1780.

      3. Entered service July 1780 as a volunteer in Captain Robert Gilkey's command.
In Colonel Charles McDowell's regiment with General Lillington in General
      command. Discharged three months later.

      4. Entered service last part of September or first part of October 1780 as a
substitute for Micajah Mayfield in Captain Samuel Williams' command
Colonel John Sevier's Regiment of "Overmountain Men". Fought at Kings Mountain
10 October 1780. Discharged one month after entry.

      5. Entered early part of June 1781 or 1782, as a volunteer in Captain John
McClain's Company in Colonel Andrew Hampton's and Porter's North Carolina
Regiment. This term of duty was for the purpose of "ranging the line between
the whites and the Cherokee Indians". Discharged fourteen months later.

      6. Entered service in spring 1782 or 1783 as a substitute for Thomas Haslip in
Captain Hugh Beaty's Company, in Colonel Robert Porter's North Carolina
Regiment. This tour of duty was guard and patrol at "Russells Station" at
mouth of Cove Creek in Rutherford County. Discharged three months later and
returned to his home on Green River.

Notes
  • In the fall of 1752, after 9 September 1752, the ship "Upton", owned by Foster Cuncliffe Esquire & Sons of Liverpool, with a captain named Gardner, sailed into the port of Chas Town (Charleston), South Carolina, arriving from Rotterdam, Holland, carrying among it's passengers, Benedict (Benedictus) Kuhn, his wife and one son, George Adam, who was eight years old. Benedict came from the upper parts of Germany (parish Dielstorff) to join relatives who had settled in the forks of the Broad and Saluda rivers in Newberry County, South Carolina. The reason for his coming, as he states in his petition for land made 7 November 1752 was "hearing of the Benefits in Settling in his Britannie Majs' Dominions of America and that Great Encouragement was given by the Province to foreign protestants".

On 13 June 1753, Jno. Pearson certifies that on 7 November 1752 he measured and laid out unto Benedict Kuhn 150 acres (50 acres for each member of his family) "lying in the forks between Broad and Saludy rivers up the branches of Crims creek and is butting and bounding on the Southwestward part of land belonging to Johannes Kounts to the Northeastward part of land belonging to Hans Windle Hollman". It seems certain that Benedict's neighbor, Johannes Kounts (who received his grant 1 December 1749) was a relative of Benedict's since Johannes' last name is spelled as Couns, Kountz and Kounts. Benedict's grant for his land was entered as a Royal Grant Vol. 6, p. 197 under the date of 1 January 1755 in the county of Newberry, South Carolina. His closest neighbors were Johannes Kounts, Andreas Hollman, Michael Peteboy, Andrew Meyer, Hans Windle Hollman, John Hendrick Welcher, Margaret Kerner, Reverend Jno Gasserts, Michael Bohner, Jno Adam Esting and Peter Dipest ( ? ) (Elders of Dissenting Congregation), Nicholas Priester, John Adam Epting, Andrew Rista, Charles Leopold Schuber and Michael Bauch.

  • Notes
    • Nicholas Kuhn, who according to ship records and grant applications was not born by 1756 but according to his death notice was born in 1746. Most researchers believe the ship records because Benedict's land grant was for 150 acres (50 acres for each family member). So Nicholas Kuhn was born circa 1753 in Newberry County, South Carolina. He is listed as a millwright when he buys 150 acres of land close to his father, Benedict, on Crim's Creek in the fork of Broad and Saludy Rivers, from George Hollman on 3 April 1773. This was probably about the time of Nicholas' marriage to Mary DeWalt. Nicholas and Mary moved to Rutherford County, North Carolina by 1790, settled on Cedar Creek and erected a corn mill. He appears in the third Co. of the 1790 census, five houses from John Ownbey, close to the Ledbetters, Harris', Nanneys, Hills, Hamptons, Daltons, Searcys, Morgans and Bradleys.

Nicholas' death notice appears in the North Carolina Spectator and Western Advertiser, Rotherfordton, North Carolina, issue of 31 December 1831 as follows; "On Bill's Creek, in this county, on the 26th inst., Mr. Nicholas Coon, aged 83 years." (Note: this was the day after Christmas and most believe his age to be about 78 instead of 83).

Cherokee Star Tracer of Native America ~ Roots of Culture

Smoky Kin

My Great and Great-Great grandmothers were Huskeys, and my Grandfather has always said that there was "Indian blood" in our family. Where can I go to find this documentation to place in my records?

Thankyou                  ... Heather Eslinger Hodges

My grandmother was married to a Cherokee Indian
named Star Huskey in Sevier County, Tennessee.
My grandfather's name was Henry Huskey and he
had 7 or 8 brothers and sisters. ...    Janice Clifford

"Deadrick Huskey" is son of "John and Della Rosa Huskey".... Theu hail from Sevier Co. From the info I have gathered, "John Huskey" was part Cherokee Indian. Deadrick was born around Jan. 25, 1920 in Tennessee. Deadrick had several brothers and sisters, Verle, Bessie, Hazel, and so on. Deadrick married an "Opal Dunlap" somewhere around 1945, divorced shortly there after and remarried a woman named "Geneva". ..     Bubba Luther

Hi Linda (guessing that's your name)
That phone number doesn't work. The area code for Knoxville is no longer 615 (now restricted to the Nashville area of Tennessee) and the new number is 865. The number doesn't work using an 865 area code either.

THIS IS WHAT COMES UP IN THE WHITE PAGES--TRY THIS AGAIN--AND IF IT DOES NOT WORK SEND LETTER TO HIM--IM SURE IT WILL GET FORWARDED

Praise to the Holy Name of JESUS

O Glorious Name of Jesus,
gracious Name,
Name of love and of power!
Through You sins are forgiven,
enemies are vanquished,
the sick are freed from illness,
the suffering are made strong and cheerful.

You bring honor to believers, instruction to preachers,
strength to those who toil,
and sustenance to the weary.

Our love for You is ardent and glowing,
through You our prayers are heard.
The souls of those who contemplate You
are filled to overflowing;
and all the blessed in heaven
are filled with Your glory.
Grant that we too may reign with them
through this Your most Holy Name. Amen
