The couple lived in Bird Township, Macoupin County, where they were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. George died 13 September of 1871. According to the 1870 Census, besides George's sons, John A. and Robert, included in the family were Sarah, 15 years, Newton, 14 years and Milda, 12 years, all born in Illinois These children were probably Mary's although perhaps Sarah was actually Josephine. George's occupation was farming with real and personal property valued at $5000 and $1200. According to a 1891 Macoupin County history, Mary's children were Oliver N., who married Etta Cook; Mary J. who married Z. Loveland, Rhoda E. who married John Stokes and Rilda E. who married J. W. 1803 and died 31 August 1844 in Illinois.
They were married on 25 October 1824 in Summer County,
Tennessee. Thomas and Rachel are buried in the Millican
Cemetery, Omege twp, at Marion Illinois.
These are the known children:
2. Susan Emily was born about 1827, married William DUDLEY.
4. Mary was born 17 September 1830
5. Nancy was born about 1833
6. Sarah
7. John W.
9. Louisa was born about 1842. She married James HUNTER
After Rachel's death, Thomas married Margaret M. SMITH.
Thomas and Margaret's daughter:
1. Rebecca was born about 1845
Edward,
Sr. was born about 1822 in Tennessee.
He was killed by a horse in July 1859 in Prairie Point (Rhome), Texas.
His mother was Catherine___.
Jane was born August
1825 in Sumner County, Tennessee to Thomas
CHAPMAN and Rachel GARRISON.
Jane died after 1900, possibly
in Polk County, Arkansas.
They were married between 1840-1844, believed they married
in Illinois although no marriage record has been found.
Their daughter, Martha, was born
about 1844 and she died of lung fever in August 1859 in Prairie Point
(Rhome).
Edward and
Jane were found on the 1850 Marion
County, Illinois census and they were on the 1860 Wise County, Texas
census.
I was searching the 1860 Mortality Schedule for Wise
County looking for another ancestor and I found
Edward, Sr. and Martha's
deaths recorded. Where were Jane
Tadlock and the Smith families
in 1870 census?
Their children are:

Nancy had five (5) brothers: Asa, David, Richard, Edward, and John. (My wife's line descends from Edward)
Nancy's father Thomas Tadlock Jr was descended from Thomas Tadlock and Sarah Sally Sumner. Thomas descended from Thomas C. Tadlock and Sarah Elizabeth Jane Jones. Thomas C. was descended from Edward Tatlocke (arrived in America 1702 near James River) and Elizabeth (?). Edward was descended from William Tatlocke and Jane Spencer.

Re: Minor Jackson Hough
Are you any relationship to
Minor Hough that passed away in the late 80's. He would have been in his
late 30's or early 40's. There are two sets of Houghs in Chesterfield,
both white and black. Minor and my father (deceased) where good friends,
however, my grandmother may be able to tell you who to go to.
